Cancer to 5K Gives Cancer Survivors Something to Celebrate

We are currently recruiting participants and volunteer for the Spring 2012 Cancer to 5K teams in Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Howard County!

Cancer to 5K is a 12-week, free running program for cancer survivors, and is open to participants of all fitness levels.  Alongside dedicated Cancer to 5K alumni and committed volunteers, we are working towards making this season’s program an unforgettable, life-changing experience for everyone involved.  By adding more opportunities for participants to work out in new places, bond as a team, and learn more about fitness and running, we are building a program that will celebrate our survivors’ journeys from cancer to 5K.

Cancer to 5K volunteers are also an integral part in the program’s success.  Volunteers in each location will attend the bi-weekly training sessions and act as motivators, guides, and companions for our Cancer to 5K participants.  A great volunteer will help to ensure that our survivors will reach the finish line of their 5K race happy, healthy, injury-free, and confident.

If you are interested in participating in the Cancer to 5K program as a survivor or as a volunteer, please register online at by Friday, March 16.  If you have any questions, contact Laura Scruggs by phone (410) 964-0202 x.108 or by email at
