Well the answer is LOTS! As Team Fight grows, Kyle and I are working closely together to both grow our program into Baltimore and also have more of a presence at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center, where our initial Patient Navigation Program began and still thrives.
Every month (usually the third Wednesday of every month) Kyle and I take a trip down to UMGCC and set-up free coffee (thanks to our friends at Starbuck’s on Eutaw St.) in the Outpatient/Infusion Center waiting room. It’s a great chance for us to represent the Ulman Cancer Fund at the hospital and spread the word about the programs and services we provide. As we continue to build relationships there, we will be able to relay those stories to all of our AMAZING teammates that have committed to supporting UCF through Team Fight!
So who the heck did we talk to yesterday? LOTS of people! Being in the waiting room, we were front and center and able to engage pretty much everyone that walked by. Everyone was shocked that we were giving away FREE coffee, but VERY appreciative! The staff was so sweet and thankful that we were offering something to patients that had traveled from all over and for the most part were there all day to receive their treatment. Many of the patients knew who we (UCF) were also but hadn’t heard about Team Fight or Cancer to 5k. So of course we had to fill them in!
We are excited with how this is going and very much encourage you all to come visit us the next time we are hanging out down there on April 20th!
