Race report – National Marathon March 26, 2011

On a cold, 34 degree morning a hardcore group of UCF Team Fighters took to the streets of Washington, DC.  A few Team highlights:

  • Jennifer Norton setting a half marathon personal record at 2:07!
  • Chris Allen representing the fastest Team Fight time with 1:22 in the half marathon!
  • Kelly and Ginna Lance representing Team Fight as the best mother-daughter team on the relay course.
  • Katrina McGowan and Roy Cheeks flying in around 1:43 minutes in the half!
  • Dane Jeeter voted best photographer at Capitol City Brewing Co at the post race…..making Kevin Spurrier jealous he wasn’t chosen to take the next table over’s post race pics.
  • Mario Garcia finished his first half marathon ever!
  • Andy Veliouna for finishing the half after being sick all week.
  • Laura Allred completing the half even though she injured foot.
  • Mike Lombardo chosen best menu item selector at Capitol City.
  • Brian Satola ran both the relay and the half marathon simultaneously.

The course was fairly flat and full of energy from the community – lots of DJ’s along the way and people up early to cheer runners on while dancing!  Along the way people were cheering on Team Fight….and definitely noticed us in our new starfruit yellow Under Armour jerseys!  The Team all met afterward in the celebration village for some food and drink, watched others finish their respective races and then congregated at Capitol City Brewing Co after for a fun time.  It was a great way to kick-off the 2011 season.  Go Team Fight!
