Feeling good in the Neighborhood

That may actually be the Applebee’s commercial slogan….but anyway, that’s how I feel about my experience in Baltimore today.

Today was the first of hopefully many visits Katrina and I will take to the University of Maryland Medical Center Greenebaum Cancer Center, to spend time in the outpatient waiting room and meet and spend time with the clients we serve, while offering them coffee and a snack as they wait for their various appointments.  A local Starbucks (Eutaw St.) has generously agreed to help us in this effort the by donating coffee (lots of coffee!) every month to patients and their families at UMGCC.  We are excited about being able to partner with Starbucks in this endavour and hope that it enables us to get to know our clients a little better.  Since we are out helping to raise funds in support our navigation effort at the cancer center, it is great that we are able to connect with our clients and first hand see why our work is so critical.

After our time at the cancer center, we headed down the street to the newest location of one of our retail partners, Race Pace.  That’s right!!  They’ve opened a store in Charm City right on Key Highway.  We went in and chatted with their staff, got the lay of the land and learned of some cool things they have planned for rides etc.  Stay tuned for more details!

It’s always great to head into the weekend on a high note.  After three days in Atlanta at a conference with colleagues in the endurance fundraising arena, a productive day in the office yesterday, and finally a day out in the community making connections, I am ready to take a day or two to reflect, and then figure out what’s on tap for the week ahead!
