Katrina and I had the pleasure today to deliver a car full of presents to a family we have been working with for a few months. Mary is a single mother of 2 beautiful daughters who has had a relapse of Hodgkins Lymphoma. She had actually been one of our scholarship winners and that was how we met her initially.
Our office is quite attached to Mary and have gotten to know her very well over the last few months. She is having a rough time of it and has actually been in the hospital the last few days undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Needless to say, but she is feeling horribly.
A wonderful Team FIGHT member called a few weeks ago wanting to know if we had a family that her daughter’s girl scout troop could adopt for the holidays and our office connected Mary to the troop- the rest is a wonderful holiday story!
The troop kept in contact with Mary and found out what her family might want this holiday season – the girls shopped for the family and wrapped all of the presents. Our staff was overwhelmed when they arrived today with the presents- it was amazing!
Katrina and I met Mary’s boyfriend over at her house today- He could not believe it when we opened the trunk! Mary comes home tonight and she has no idea what this troop has done! We put everything under the tree for when she comes home tonight- her tree was bare when we got there and look at it now:
Have a very Merry Christmas and thanks to everyone who helped make our young adult families holiday special this year!
