UCF’s presence in the DC area is expanding! Isn’t that exciting?!
We have two employees in DC and also have a support group that meets regularly. This past February, the group met for this first time, and since then, the group has continued to meet once a month. The group is open to young adults, ages 18-39, with any type of cancer. The group is also open to cancer survivors.
The Young Adult Educational and Support group is a collaborative effort between UCF, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Georgetown University Hospital, George Washington University, and Washington Cancer Institute. The group meets once per month and the meetings rotate between an educational speaker, a traditional support group, and a social event. Young adults from all of the various hospitals and organizations have come together in these meetings and wonderful connections have been made!
The meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6-7:30. Our next meeting will be June 21, 2012.
If you know if someone who could benefit from our support group or would like more information, please let us know. Feel free to contact me directly at: Lindsay@ulmanfund.org.
